The Australian supermarket chain Elki is coming to New Zealand in 2019.
The Australian company, which has been based in Sydney for more than 20 years, announced its plans to expand its Auckland operation to New York, Los Angeles and London.
Its Auckland operations have a presence in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, while its London and Los Angeles operations have also opened up in recent years.
Its expansion will take the chain to a total of 18 locations in the UK, with another seven opening up over the next three years.
The announcement comes amid a global food craze for food that is made from the same ingredients and uses the same methods as the best-selling products from Australian, Australian-made brands such as Alton Brown, La Tasca and L’Etoile.
Its popularity in the US has grown over the past decade, with supermarkets including Walmart, Kroger, Safeway, Lidl and Kmart now offering it in their stores.
The chain has a significant following across Australia, with more than 500 outlets and a number of stores in Sydney alone.
Its Sydney operation is now expanding to expand into other major cities in the United States.
