(AP) A gourmet store specializing in meat-free, plant-based meals in the heart of Montgomery is opening in the city, just one of a handful of restaurants that are now available to serve customers at the shopping center.
The Montgomery Gourmet Food Co-op, with more than 50 restaurants in the metro area, announced Friday it plans to open in Montgomery’s Montgomery shopping center in 2019.
Its first location will be at The Mall at Montgomery, a mall about five miles east of downtown.
The store is expected to be open by July.
The Montgomery Grafton-based company, founded in 2016, says it is focused on providing fresh, quality food to the community.
The company says it will sell a variety of meatless options such as chicken, veggie burgers, burgers, steaks, turkey, turkey breast and pork.
Montgomery is about 20 miles south of Birmingham.
