This gourmet tacos recipe is a favorite of our family, and we love to share it with you.
The Recipe: Mexican Tacos with Salsa and Cornmeal (4-1/2 cups) 2 cups of flour (we use whole wheat) 1/2 cup cornmeal 1/4 teaspoon cumin 1/8 teaspoon onion powder 1/3 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon oregano 1/32 teaspoon smoked paprika 1/6 teaspoon salt (or more to taste) Directions: Place the flour, cornmeal and cumin in a bowl.
In a small bowl, mix together the onion powder, garlic powder, onion, oreganos, paprika, and salt.
Mix in the flour and cornmeal.
You want this to be very loose.
This helps to hold the dough together, and it adds texture and flavor.
Add in the cornmeal mixture and mix it together well.
The dough should be about the size of a quarter.
Cover the dough with a towel and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 40 minutes.
Shape the dough into a ball.
Place the ball of dough on a baking sheet and place it on a rimmed baking sheet.
Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes.
Serve warm or cold.
The recipe makes about 6 to 8 servings.
Recipe Notes: If you want a slightly different texture to your tacos, you can substitute cornmeal for the corn flour.
It’s the same texture and it will taste much more authentic.
You could also substitute corn meal for all-purpose flour, which can be found in most grocery stores.
The flavors of this recipe are so delicious that we think it’s worth adding more toppings.
Try adding your favorite toppings like cheese, salsa, or some sour cream.
For a quick and easy taco dinner, try making the Mexican rice dish, which is made from the rice flour alone.
It is a great, quick meal for any family.
And as always, you will love our gourmand recipes that have gourmet ingredients like corn, salsa and more.
